One of the most magical times of the year in Albuquerque is right around the corner! The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta kicks off on October 4th and runs through October 12th.
If you’re new to the area, this is one event you absolutely won’t want to miss. The Balloon Fiesta is the largest ballooning event in the world, drawing pilots and spectators from across the globe. Picture hundreds of brilliantly colored hot air balloons lifting into the crisp autumn sky—there’s truly nothing like it.

The very first Balloon Fiesta took place in 1972 with just 13 balloons. Today, it has grown into a world-renowned festival featuring over 500 balloons and events like the famous Mass Ascension, the evening Balloon Glows, and exciting competitions. What started as a small gathering has become one of New Mexico’s proudest traditions and an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike.
